AHHHH! My favorite subject. My favorite word. I interact with people all day, I talk with them, I try to motivate them, inspire them and even try to recreate them and I have come to the conclusion that the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is indeed the little extra. There must be, “The willingness to always do more that is required of you.” quoted by George Patton. There is an infinite difference between a little wrong and just right, between fairly good and the best, between mediocrity and superiority. But EXCELLENCE is not reserved for those who are in the spotlight, those we see in arenas, on stage on screen. It’s more than the millionaires and the billionaires. EXCELLENCE is a way of life. It is how you go about things on a daily basis. Yes, talent will get you noticed in many areas, and hard work will move you forward. But Lowell Thomas says, “EXCELLENCE is doing a little more each day than you think you possibly can.” It is the more than you think you can do- that is where we will find the EXCELLENCE.

Do you want to be a person of EXCELLENCE? Treat people better than they expect to be treated. Do you want to be an EXCELLENT employer? Treat employees better than they ever thought of a boss treating them, and show them how to treat customers and clients better than any other company. Do you want to be an EXCELLENT employee? Give your company more than anyone has ever given in the position you are in. Do you want to be an EXCELLENT salesperson? Give you clients more value for the same amount of money. Do want to be a EXCELLENT Husband? Love your wife a little more each day. Do you want to be an EXCELLENT wife? Support your husband a little more each day. Do you want to be an EXCELLENT parent? Spend a little more time with your kids and get involved more with their activities everyday. “Here is the simple but powerful rule….always give people more than they expect to get.” Nelson Boswell was right, and you see the pattern.

GIVE A LITTLE MORE! When you give more you go above the norm above average. The masses set the average. A little more is above average! Stop being satisfied with average when it only takes a little more effort to be above average. Thomas Edison said, “I start where the last man left off.” We all can do more than we have been giving and doing. We sometimes hold back. I ask why and what for? When it doesn’t take much to be more, why don’t we? If we start being, doing and giving more each day we would be on our way to becoming EXCELLENT. It is a state of mind. I believe this is how we pursue perfection. Orison Swett Marden was quoted many times on EXCELLENCE. I believe him when he says. “It is just a little difference between the good and the best that makes the difference between the artist and the artisan. It is the little touches after the average man would quit that make the master’s fame.” (He was saying "a little more makes the difference.") He quoted later in his life, “Just make up your mind at the very outset that your work is going to stand for quality….that you are going to stamp a superior quality upon everything that goes out of your hands, that whatever you shall bear the hall-mark of EXCELLENCE.”

HAVE FAITH

FAITH is based upon something– the evidence of things not seen. To have FAITH one must have evidence. FAITH is not blind. We can know the invisible by seeing the visible. We can see trees bend and know there is wind. We can see the moon reflect light and know the sun is shining. We can see man and know there is something beyond

FAITH is…. the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

In religion, in personal fortitude, in the trust of another individual, whether it be a family member, teammate or co-worker. We accumulate a level of trust to place in someone or something. By this increasing this level of trust, we increase our level of FAITH in that very thing. The more we trust the more we have faith and the more we have FAITH, the more we want to share that FAITH. That FAITH could be in our God, ourselves, our team or our product. But we, as humans, pursue precipitously after the unknown to make sense of it all. To believe in what we cannot see, smell, taste, hear or touch. To acknowledge the intangible as if it were tangible.

Let’s go beyond the senses. The humanistic school of thought is reason, evidence and proof. To the realist: Where is the burden of proof? Where are the facts supporting the claim? I say, how can one live on being realistic? There are more things in this world we don’t understand that those things we do. We’d like to think we know everything, yet we know each of us don’t know enough. There was a saying I used to say, “The more I know, the more I need to know, and the more I need to know let’s me know that I don’t know that much.” I know that the things I didn’t understand earlier in life doesn’t mean they won’t happen or cannot exist. I know that seeing may be believing, but what we don’t see still may come to pass. We do not see the rows of corn in the field but we have FAITH that in that tiny seed, even in less than perfect conditions, there will still spring forward a crop. We know this because we don’t see it in the seed, we see it in the manifestation of the seed being planted and the seed having FAITH that it will become. The seed has the faith needed to be.

So what of the things we do not know of? Just because we haven't seen it happen doesn’t mean it won’t happen or won’t become. In the movie “Men in Black” Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) tells Agent Jay (Will Smith) “1500 years ago every one knew the earth was the center of the universe. 500 years ago everyone believed the world was flat and 15 minutes ago you knew people were alone on this planet.” Miracles are just happenings waiting for us to understand. 200 years ago it would be a miracle to see a man fly. But once we understood the aerodynamics of flight…… it is so common and makes so much sense elementary kids can explain it to me.
I just want you to get this; FAITH is believing in a higher intelligent power creating the universe and ourselves. I, personally believe there is a God and He supplies all our needs. I have never seen Him yet I have seen His presence. I have never heard Him, but I believe He speaks to me. I have never touched Him, yet He has touched my heart.

1) I can trust, believe and have FAITH in something I cannot see, hear, smell, taste or touch and

2) The supernatural is the natural not yet understood. And

HERE’S MY POINT!

If we can stop seeing things as they are, and start believing them as the ought to be. Then we can see ourselves not as we are, but as we should be. We can shake off every thing that has limited us to mediocrity and average. We can have FAITH inside us like the FAITH of an acorn that says “ I will be planted, be nurtured, and grow to be something magnificent even though I am a seed.”


FAITH will give us the confidence to be what we aren’t and pursue opportunities to become.

When you begin to have FAITH, I believe you are going to experience SUCCESSNOW!
